After making remarkable progress in her recovery, Indiana “Indy” Feek suddenly became critically ill at her family’s home in Waco last Thursday. She lost consciousness and was rushed by ambulance to a local hospital before being airlifted to Dell Children’s Medical Center in Austin.

Doctors discovered a dangerous buildup of fluid around her heart that was preventing it from beating properly. During emergency surgery, they drained 610 cc of fluid, and almost immediately, her heart returned to a normal rhythm.

Today, there is wonderful news. Indy has regained her color, her energy, and her smile. Doctors say she is recovering beautifully and expect her to make a full recovery.

She was smiling, talking and asking to play game after game of Uno. Only hours earlier, Rory had been praying simply to see his daughter wake up again. Now she was sitting across from him, holding a hand of cards and waiting for the next round. Doctors expect Indy to make a full recovery. Sometimes the greatest answer to a father’s prayer is not something grand. Sometimes it is his little girl opening her eyes—and asking him to deal the cards again.
