Elvis Presley’s Graceland Faces Foreclosure Controversy Amid Riley Keough’s Legal Battle

Graceland, the legendary Memphis mansion once home to Elvis Presley, is at the center of a dramatic legal storm following a controversial foreclosure attempt. Scheduled to be auctioned off on May 23, 2025, the historic estate is facing claims of fraudulent dealings that have left Elvis’s granddaughter, actress Riley Keough, “traumatized.”

According to a public notice from the Shelby County Courthouse, Graceland and its surrounding property were listed for a foreclosure sale, allegedly due to a $3.8 million loan taken out in 2018. The loan, supposedly secured by Riley’s late mother, Lisa Marie Presley, used Graceland as collateral through a Missouri-based company named Naussany Investments and Private Lending.

However, Keough, now 34, is challenging the legitimacy of both the loan and the company itself. In a lawsuit filed on May 15 in Shelby County Chancery Court, she claims Lisa Marie never took out the loan and asserts the documents contain forged signatures. The notary listed on the paperwork has also denied ever authenticating Lisa Marie’s signature or meeting her.

Keough’s legal team has successfully obtained a temporary restraining order to halt the sale. She currently owns Graceland, having been named the sole trustee of the Presley family estate after a court decision issued ten months after her mother’s death in 2023. That decision followed a separate legal dispute with her grandmother, Priscilla Presley, who has publicly expressed her wish to be buried alongside Elvis at the estate.

Graceland remains a vital symbol of rock and roll history. According to the official website, all the furniture inside the mansion remains as it was during Elvis’s lifetime, preserving the legacy of one of music’s most iconic figures. The outcome of this legal battle will determine not only the future of Graceland but also the integrity of the Presley family legacy.
