Donny and Marie Osmond Come From a Talented Family! Get to Know All 9 Siblings

Introduction

You know all about Donny Osmond and Marie Osmond, but did you know that they have a few more siblings? And “a few” is probably an understatement as Donny and Marie have seven other famous brothers!

Donny and Marie, as well as their siblings Virl Osmond, Tom Osmond, Alan Osmond, Merrill Osmond, Wayne Osmond, Jay Osmond and Jimmy Osmond, were all raised by parents Olive Osmond and George Osmond. The proud mom and dad were married in 1944 and remained a pair until Olive’s death in 2004. George sadly died just three years later in 2007.

As fans of the iconic Osmond clan know, Donny and Marie reached mainstream fame with their 1976 variety series Donny & Marie, but they weren’t the only ones in the family that went the music route.

Virl Osmond

Virl, pictured on the left, was born with a hearing disability so he wasn’t able to participate in his siblings’ musical act. However, the TV producer still helped out with the family business as he took hundreds of photos for his siblings for publicity.

When he wasn’t busy with his family’s iconic career, Virl had his hands full as the father of his own eight children. Alongside wife Christopher Marie Carroll, Virl became the proud dad of kids Hyrum, Virginia, Virl Jr., David, Aaron, Joseph, Olivia and Jared.

Tom Osmond

Tom, like his brother Virl, has a hearing disability. Although Tom didn’t perform much as a member of the Osmond family, he was quite busy with his personal life.

All together, Tom has nine kids — seven children whom he shares with first wife Lyn Heslop and two with second spouse Carolyn Olsen. Sadly, one of Tom’s kids from his first marriage died as an infant.

In January 2019, Tom’s sister, Marie, opened up about her brother’s health following a quadruple bypass heart surgery. “He’s a miracle,” she exclusively gushed to Closer Weekly.

Alan Osmond

Alan rose to fame alongside his brothers as a singer in The Osmonds band. During their time as a performing group, Alan mostly sang backup vocals while the other brothers sang lead. Alan also served in the California Army National Guard in the 1960s.

In 1974, the “Crazy Horses” singer married wife Suzanne Pinegar and together welcomed their eight kids, David, Nathan, Scott, Tyler, Michael, Alex, Douglas and Jon.

In October 2019, Alan looked better than ever as he hit the streets to support Donny and Marie as they were honored by the Las Vegas Walk of Stars. Despite being in a wheelchair because of his multiple sclerosis diagnosis, Alan was all smiles while attending the event.

Wayne Osmond

As another member of The Osmonds, Wayne had music in his soul. Not only could he sing, but he was a guitarist and played the clarinet, flute, violin, banjo, saxophone, drums, piano and bagpipes.

Wayne found love with his longtime spouse, Kathlyn Osmond, when they tied the knot in 1974. Shortly after walking down the aisle, Wayne and Kathlyn became the proud parents of children Amy, Steven, Michele, Gregory and Sarah.

Wayne died after suffering a “massive stroke” at the age of 73, his family announced in January 2025.

““His legacy will go down as someone who was not only a genius in his ability to write music, but was able to capture the hearts of millions of people and bring them closer to God,” brother Merrill shared.

Merrill Osmond

Not only was Merrill a part of The Osmonds, but he was also a part of the group’s country spin-off, The Osmond Brothers. Although all of Merill’s siblings possess talented skills, he can boast about the fact he’s been knighted twice — once by the Order of Saint Michael of the Wing and then by the Sovereign Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem.

Merrill, who was the first of his performing brothers to marry, said “I Do” to Mary Carlson in 1973 and they went on to have six kids, Troy, Justin, Heather, Sheila, Travis and Shane.

Jay Osmond

You can’t really have a band without a drummer, right? Jay provided some percussion for The Osmonds. In 1987, he married Kandilyn Harris and together they have three kids, Jason, Eric and Marcus. However, the pair later divorced in 2011.

Donny Osmond

Well, we think you all know who this Donny character is. He’s only the most popular member of The Osmonds band, a former teen idol, a Dancing With the Stars winner and one-half of the former popular Donny & Marie show!

On top of his success as a Las Vegas superstar thanks to his long-running residency, as well as hit role on The Masked Singer, Donny is also beloved for being a doting family man. After falling in love with wife Debbie Osmond in 1978, the “I’ll Make a Man Out of You” singer became the proud dad of his five kids, Donald, Jeremy, Christopher Brandon and Josh

Marie Osmond

The second youngest, and only girl of the Osmond sibling clan, Marie has been quite a force in the entertainment business. Not only was she a successful country singer in the ’70s and ’80s, but she has also left her fingerprints on television, movies and Broadway. Marie is also a best-selling author, having written three books.

Since wrapping up her 11-year Las Vegas residency with Donny in November 2019, Marie was keeping fans entertained as a cohost on The Talk, a gig she held for one year until September 2020. To this day, she’s still working on her music and acting profession.

When she’s not juggling her hectic Hollywood career, Marie is making sure to spend time with husband Steve Craig and her kids, Stephen, Jessica, Rachael, Brianna, Matthew, Brandon and Abigail. The “Paper Roses” singer is also the loving mama of late son Michale Bryan.

Jimmy Osmond

The youngest member of the Osmond clan, Jimmy is quite the musician, with six gold records to his name. He is also currently president of Osmond Entertainment. Jimmy also has four kids, Isabella, Sophia, Zachary and Arthur with longtime love Michele Larson.

In December 2018, Jimmy sadly suffered a stroke, but he is currently on the road to recovery. “There are different levels of stroke, and he has received the care he needs and is looking forward to a few months of self-care,” a source told Daily Mail at the time.
