Standing over nine feet tall including its pedestal, the statue gleams brilliantly under the California sun, adorned with more than 40,000 Swarovski crystals personally donated by Neil Diamond himself. Visibly moved, Diamond addressed the crowd:
“I never thought I would see myself turned into a statue—especially holding that microphone,” he said. “But if I’m going to stand on Hollywood Boulevard forever, I want it to shine—just like the music always did.”
This unprecedented honor was unanimously approved by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce following a global petition that gathered 2.8 million signatures, a powerful testament to Neil Diamond’s lasting influence on music, songwriting, and American culture.
After the unveiling, guest artists surprised the audience with a medley of songs closely tied to Diamond’s legacy. The boulevard filled with spontaneous singalongs, waves of nostalgia echoing through the heart of Hollywood.
