NEIL DIAMOND MAKES HISTORY: FIRST MUSIC ICON HONORED WITH A FULL-SIZE MONUMENT ON THE HOLLYWOOD WALK OF FAME
Hollywood Boulevard has just witnessed a moment unlike any other in its storied history. In a deeply emotional ceremony that nearly brought Sunset Boulevard to a standstill, Neil Diamond became the first artist ever to be honored with a full-body bronze monument on the Hollywood Walk of Fame—far surpassing the traditional star plaque that has defined the landmark for decades.
The statue captures Neil Diamond at the height of his legendary career: frozen mid-performance, microphone in hand, wearing his iconic sparkling stage attire and signature warm smile that once lit up arenas around the world. Unveiled directly in front of the TCL Chinese Theatre, the monument drew thousands of fans—those who grew up with his music and younger generations who continue to discover its timeless power.
Standing over nine feet tall including its pedestal, the statue gleams brilliantly under the California sun, adorned with more than 40,000 Swarovski crystals personally donated by Neil Diamond himself. The crystals scatter light across Hollywood Boulevard, symbolizing a career that has shone brightly for more than five decades.
Visibly moved, Diamond addressed the crowd:
“I never thought I would see myself turned into a statue—especially holding that microphone,” he said. “But if I’m going to stand on Hollywood Boulevard forever, I want it to shine—just like the music always did.”
This unprecedented honor was unanimously approved by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce following a global petition that gathered 2.8 million signatures, a powerful testament to Neil Diamond’s lasting influence on music, songwriting, and American culture.
After the unveiling, guest artists surprised the audience with a medley of songs closely tied to Diamond’s legacy. The boulevard filled with spontaneous singalongs, waves of nostalgia echoing through the heart of Hollywood.
As the ceremony came to a close, Neil Diamond stepped forward, gently placed his hand over the statue’s heart, and whispered:
“Thank you for always standing with me.”
The Neil Diamond monument is now open to the public at 6801 Hollywood Boulevard, standing as a permanent tribute to a voice, a songwriter, and a legend whose music continues to unite generations.
