Introduction

# THE BURDEN YOU WERE NEVER MEANT TO CARRY
There are burdens in life that grow heavier the longer we try to carry them alone.
Regret.
Shame.
Mistakes from the past.
Words we wish we could take back.
Choices we wish we had never made.
Many people spend years trying to deal with these things on their own. They bury them deep inside, hoping time will erase them. Others try to compensate by working harder, being better, or proving their worth through endless effort.
But some burdens were never meant to be managed.
Phil Robertson once shared a simple but powerful truth:
*”We’re all sinners… confess it and give it to the only One who can remove it.”*
His words cut through a struggle that every human being understands. No matter our background, success, or reputation, none of us are perfect. We all fall short. We all carry things that weigh on our hearts.
The mistake many people make is believing they must somehow fix themselves before they can find peace.
Yet forgiveness has never been about earning it.
God never asked us to carry the weight of our failures forever. He invites us to bring them to Him honestly, without excuses and without pretending. Confession is not a sign of weakness—it is an act of faith. It is acknowledging that there is One greater than ourselves who can do what we cannot.
The freedom we search for is often found in surrender.
When we stop hiding our sins, stop justifying them, and stop trying to outrun them, we discover something remarkable: God’s mercy is greater than our mistakes.
The burden begins to lift.
The guilt begins to loosen its grip.
Hope begins to return.
As Scripture reminds us:
*”If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”* — 1 John 1:9
You do not have to spend another day carrying what God is willing to remove.
Lay it down.
Confess it.
Trust Him with it.
And walk forward in the freedom that forgiveness brings.
