It’s been a long week and a half, since we loaded up and headed to Austin, with more than few worries and fears in tow. But the reality is, it’s not been near as long, or hard, as it could’ve been. And we’re SO thankful. Thankful to be home. Thankful to have the surgery behind us. And especially thankful that she’s recovered so quickly and so well. And we’re thankful for all the love and prayers we’ve received from everyone.

Introduction

Over the past week and a half, our family has traveled a road we never expected to walk. When we packed our bags and set out for Austin, we carried far more than clothes and supplies. We also carried heavy hearts filled with uncertainty, fear, and countless unanswered questions. We wondered how the surgery would go, how much pain our daughter might experience, and how long the recovery would take. Every mile of the journey seemed to remind us of the challenges that lay ahead. Yet as difficult as those moments felt, looking back now we realize that this season has been filled with far more blessings than hardships. The days were not nearly as overwhelming as we had imagined, and every obstacle seemed to come with a reminder that we were never walking through it alone. Today, as we reflect on everything that has happened, our hearts overflow with gratitude. We are incredibly thankful to finally be back home, surrounded by familiar comforts and the simple joys that often go unnoticed until they are taken away. There is something deeply comforting about sleeping in our own beds, hearing the familiar sounds of home, and returning to the routines that once felt ordinary but now seem like precious gifts. Most of all, we are thankful that the surgery is behind us. The anxious waiting, the difficult decisions, and the emotional weight leading up to that day have finally been replaced with relief and hope. Watching our daughter recover has been nothing short of amazing. Day after day she has grown stronger, smiled more often, and surprised us with her resilience. Children have an incredible ability to heal, and witnessing her regain her energy and spirit has been one of the greatest blessings we could ever ask for. Her courage has inspired all of us, reminding us that even the smallest victories deserve to be celebrated. Throughout this journey, we have also been surrounded by an extraordinary community of love. Friends, relatives, neighbors, and even complete strangers reached out with encouraging messages, thoughtful cards, heartfelt prayers, and countless acts of kindness. Every phone call, every text message, every meal, and every encouraging word reminded us that we were being carried by the compassion of others. There were moments when we felt physically exhausted and emotionally drained, yet knowing that so many people were praying for our family gave us strength to keep moving forward. Those prayers became a source of peace during sleepless nights and anxious moments, reminding us that hope is often found in the kindness of others. It is impossible to fully express how grateful we are for every person who stood beside us, whether through a simple message or a heartfelt prayer. Your love has made this difficult journey lighter than it could have been, and your generosity has left a lasting mark on our hearts. This experience has taught us that gratitude often grows in the middle of life’s greatest challenges. While we would never have chosen this path, we have witnessed God’s faithfulness, the power of community, and the incredible resilience of a child who continues to amaze us every single day. As we step into this next chapter, we do so with renewed hope, deeper appreciation, and hearts overflowing with thankfulness for the healing, the support, and the countless blessings that carried us safely home.
