In 2012, to commemorate the 35th anniversary of Elvis’s passing, Lisa Marie Presley recorded a new version of the song. With guidance from producer T-Bone Burnett, she laid down her vocals in August 2012 at The Village in Santa Monica, California. The accompanying music video, which features family photographs and home videos, was produced over four days and debuted on August 16, 2012, during a special anniversary concert at the FedExForum in Memphis .​

The video was initially intended for the 25,000 fans attending the anniversary concert. However, due to its emotional impact, Lisa Marie agreed to share it with a broader audience. The video premiered on CMT and was later made available on iTunes, allowing fans worldwide to experience this touching tribute .
