This summer brought Rory Feek face-to-face with every parent’s worst fear: the possibility of losing his beloved daughter, Indy.
At just 12 years old, Indy has already faced more medical challenges than most children her age. Born with Down syndrome, she underwent open-heart surgery earlier this year. But the family’s relief was short-lived. About two weeks after the operation, fluid began accumulating around her heart. Indy lost consciousness and had to be airlifted to a hospital in Austin, Texas.
Doctors worked to drain the dangerous buildup of fluid. According to Rory, her color began returning the very next day — a moment that brought precious hope after such a frightening ordeal.
Now, Indy is back home in Tennessee, surrounded by the love of her father and family. And there is something especially beautiful happening: she is singing again. ❤️
In a new video shared by The Singing Barber, Noah Peters, Rory sits in a barber’s chair with his guitar while Indy stands proudly beside him. Together, father and daughter sing the beloved Christian hymn “I Have Decided to Follow Jesus.”
For Rory, the moment carries a meaning that goes far beyond music.
Indy was only two years old when her mother, Joey Feek, lost her battle with cancer in March 2016. Joey had a deep love for hymns, and even during her illness, she recorded an entire album of songs rooted in faith and devotion.
Today, those same timeless melodies are finding a new voice through the little girl Joey loved so dearly.
As Indy sings beside her father, it feels like a precious thread connecting generations — a reminder that love can continue to shine through music, memories, and the simple moments families treasure most.
