A LITTLE VOICE FROM THE BACKSEAT
Rory Feek thought he would spend the long drive from Tennessee to Waco catching up on emails and getting a little work done.
But sometimes the most meaningful moments come when you stop working—and simply listen.
From the backseat, Indiana was singing along to The Judds, happily creating her own version of the lyrics whenever she didn’t know the words. Between songs, drawings, crafts, and the excitement of taking her new baby doll on its first road trip, Indy seemed completely content.
And whenever someone mentioned how many miles were still ahead, she had the same cheerful answer:
“That’s not bad.”
Ten minutes? Not bad.
Ten hours? Still not bad.
With three more hours before reaching Waco, Rory heard those familiar words once again from the backseat.
And in that simple little sentence, he heard something much bigger—a reminder of how Indiana has a beautiful way of finding joy in ordinary moments, even when the road is long and the journey isn’t always easy.
Sometimes children teach us the lessons we didn’t know we needed.
Maybe life really is a little easier when we learn to look at the long road ahead and simply say:
“That’s not bad.” ❤️
