Donny Osmond Hints at “Inevitable” Career Shift During Candid Appearance on The View
Donny Osmond — the beloved American entertainer whose career has spanned more than six decades — made headlines after a heartfelt appearance on The View on March 13, where he opened up about a potential turning point in his future.
At 67, Osmond remains energetic and passionate about his work. He reflected on his journey, which began at just five years old with the family band The Osmonds. In 1971, he launched a successful solo career and later joined forces with his sister Marie for the popular variety show Donny & Marie in 1976. Over the years, he’s performed in Broadway productions, starred in films, and continued to release music — maintaining a loyal fan base across generations.
When co-host Sarah Haines asked if he ever considers stepping away from the spotlight, Osmond responded candidly: “Let’s be honest — it’s inevitable.” His comment prompted a quick and emotional reaction from Joy Behar, who exclaimed, “No, it’s not!”
“I love what I do. I really enjoy it,” Osmond said. “My job is to make people happy — how can you complain about that?” Still, the Go Away Little Girl singer acknowledged the demands of his craft. “It’s a lot of work. I put 100% into every show. But I’ve still got a lot of fuel left in this body because I’ve set the bar so high for myself.”
He went on to reveal the one condition that would lead him to retire: “The day I can’t reach that bar and give 110% on stage is the day the curtain won’t go up.”
Thankfully for fans, that day isn’t anytime soon. Osmond’s Las Vegas residency has just been extended through November 2025, as announced on The View. Tickets are available now — and for those who want to see a living legend still at the top of his game, this may be the perfect moment.
