Best known as one half of the beloved country and bluegrass duo **Joey + Rory**, alongside her husband Rory Feek, Joey captured the hearts of fans with a voice that was both tender and deeply authentic. The couple first rose to national fame in 2008 after finishing third on CMT’s *Can You Duet*, a breakthrough that launched an inspiring career filled with heartfelt songs and timeless performances.
Over the years, Joey + Rory released seven studio albums, earning widespread praise for their genuine storytelling and traditional country sound. Songs like **”Cheater, Cheater”** introduced them to a wider audience, while their gospel collection **Hymns That Are Important To Us** became their first No. 1 album, reflecting the Christian faith that guided every aspect of their lives.

In 2014, Joey was diagnosed with cervical cancer. Despite undergoing surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation, the disease continued to progress. In October 2015, Rory shared the heartbreaking news that her cancer was terminal and that they had made the difficult decision to end treatment after it was no longer effective. By November, Joey had entered hospice care, where she spent her remaining months surrounded by family, faith, and love.
On March 4, 2016, Joey Feek passed away at the age of 40. Her funeral was held privately on the family’s Tennessee farm, where she was laid to rest in the Feek family cemetery—a peaceful place she had always loved.
