Merrill Osmond Shares Spiritual Experience Following the Passing of His Brother, Wayne Osmond

Following the passing of his beloved brother, Wayne Osmond, singer Merrill Osmond has opened up about a profound and emotional spiritual experience he had the night Wayne died. In a heartfelt YouTube video, Merrill shared how he believes his brother visited him in a dream—a moment that brought peace and comfort amid sorrow.

Wayne Osmond, a cherished member of the legendary musical family The Osmonds, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2025, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Surrounded by his loving wife Catherine and their five children, Wayne left behind a legacy of faith, music, and deep love that touched countless lives around the world.

In his message, Merrill described a powerful dream he had the night Wayne passed:
“I knelt in prayer, asking that my brother find eternal peace. That night, I had the most profound dream. Wayne appeared with his arms around my son Troy, who had also passed. They looked directly at me with the biggest smiles I had ever seen. I woke up in tears, filled with a joy and peace I can’t fully describe.”

Merrill also recalled a special conversation he had with Wayne in 2000 when they were both performing in Branson, Missouri. Drawing from notes in his journal, Merrill said he once asked Wayne what he would want to say to the world if he ever passed. Wayne replied that he would tell everyone how much he loved the Savior and how true the gospel of Jesus Christ was to him. He expressed deep love for his wife Cathy and their family, and he hoped that the image and music of the Osmond family might help others through life’s challenges.

Wayne’s life was a testament to faith and perseverance. Beyond his musical contributions, he was also a commercial pilot and once flew with the U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels. He married Catherine White in 1974, and together they built a joyful home grounded in faith, music, and love, celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in December 2024.

Despite significant health challenges—including a brain tumor diagnosed in 1997, a stroke in 2022, and a later battle with cancer—Wayne faced every trial with resilience and optimism. Although hearing loss eventually led to his retirement from music, he remained a beloved figure in the entertainment world and a faithful high priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Merrill concluded his message with words of hope for anyone grieving the loss of a loved one:
“If you’ve lost someone and are wondering if they’re okay—know this: they are. They are at peace. They are surrounded by love, by family, and by light. Don’t worry. They’re doing just fine.”
