Joe Jackson – the father who once led “The Jackson 5” – has, for the first time, shared in full about his relationship with Michael Jackson, the King of Pop’s final words, and why he was excluded from the 2002 will.
According to Joe, the rift began when a planned African tour with the entire group was canceled after someone “said something” that made Michael change his mind. From then on, Michael pursued a solo career, while his brothers went their own way. Joe believes this was the result of a “divide and conquer” tactic by managers and accountants focused solely on their own gain, deliberately isolating Michael from the family.
Joe also addressed the controversies surrounding Michael’s private life – from sleepovers with children to plastic surgery. He insisted the media twisted the truth, exploiting every opportunity to tarnish his son’s image, and claimed that racial prejudice played a significant role.
Speaking about the day Michael died, Joe revealed that he first learned the news from a fan’s phone call, before it became public. The most heartbreaking part, he says, was discovering that before he passed, Michael had asked someone to “call my father, he’ll know how to get me out of this.” But those around him claimed they couldn’t find Joe – even though he was very close by.
Joe firmly believes that if he had been able to reach Michael, he might still be alive. He disclosed that Michael had told his mother he feared he might be murdered and doubted he could complete his scheduled shows.
On being left out of Michael’s will, Joe said it was Michael’s choice and he accepted it, trusting his wife Katherine to handle matters fairly. He wants people to remember Michael as the greatest star in the world – and to remember him, Joe, as a father who raised nine children to be respectful, open-minded individuals.
In a surprising revelation, Joe also confirmed that Michael had another son named Omar, “a Jackson in both looks and talent,” sparking even more curiosity about the true legacy of this music legend.
