Introduction
Rory Feek – A 60th Birthday Marked by Love, Music, and Community in Texas
This past April, Rory Feek and his family took a special trip to Texas to attend a new Homesteading Conference, held just north of Waco. The event shared much in common with the annual gathering at the Feek family farm but on a much grander scale – hundreds of acres filled with craft booths, bookstores, live music, lectures, and countless community activities.
Over the weekend, Rory moderated several panel discussions centered on family and community. On Friday evening, as the day began to wind down, he closed the night with heartfelt songs and stories. The moment became even more unforgettable when the audience surprised him by singing “Happy Birthday” right in the middle of his own concert – the very first time in his career that had ever happened.
The next morning, Rebecca, Rory’s wife, had secretly arranged a one-on-one woodworking class for him, followed by a special dinner celebration in honor of his 60th birthday. In their lighthearted yet heartfelt tributes, friends reminded Rory that at this stage in life, he has the freedom to speak his mind and the wisdom to share valuable lessons with the younger generation.
Beyond the music and birthday festivities, Rory also had the opportunity to sit down with Pastor Aussie Adams of Homestead Heritage for a meaningful conversation about the challenges his family has faced in recent years and the choices they’ve made along the way – choices that reflect a desire for a simpler, more intentional way of living.
For Rory, it was more than just a conference, a birthday dinner, or a performance. It was a weekend of love, connection, and deep gratitude – the perfect way to begin a brand-new chapter in life.
