Introduction

At 85, music legend Sir Cliff Richard is sharing a deeply personal chapter of his life — his quiet battle with prostate cancer — and a story that carries an important message about the power of early detection.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain, the singer revealed that his diagnosis came unexpectedly, just as he was preparing to embark on a tour of Australia and New Zealand.
“I was about to go on tour, and the promoter said they needed my insurance paperwork,” Sir Cliff explained. “So I had to go in for a routine check-up.”
What began as a formality quickly became life-changing.
“They found that I had prostate cancer,” he said. “But the good fortune was that it was very early. It hadn’t spread — it hadn’t moved into my bones or anywhere else.”
Because the cancer was detected at an early stage, Sir Cliff’s treatment was successful, and he has since made a strong recovery. Today, he remains in good health and high spirits, continuing to embody the resilience that has defined his decades-long career.
Now, Sir Cliff is using his voice for more than music. He is publicly backing calls for national prostate cancer screening for men, urging others not to ignore early symptoms or delay medical check-ups.
By speaking openly about his experience, he hopes to encourage men everywhere to take their health seriously — and to understand that early action can be lifesaving.
“If sharing my story helps even one person get checked sooner, then it’s worth talking about.”
A powerful reminder that sometimes, a routine test can make all the difference.
We wish Sir Cliff Richard continued good health and strength in the years ahead.
