Wayne Osmond – Member of The Osmonds – Passes Away at 73

Wayne Osmond, a beloved member of the legendary musical family The Osmonds and older brother to Donny and Marie Osmond, has passed away at the age of 73 following a massive stroke at a hospital in Salt Lake City on Wednesday night.

Wayne was known for his distinctive baritone voice and his remarkable contributions to the success of the family band. He was not only a talented musician but also a warm, humorous older brother — once joking, “Every time I go golfing, I wear two pairs of pants… just in case I get a hole in one.”

His brother Merrill Osmond confirmed the news on Facebook, writing, “His departure from this Earth is a sorrowful moment for some, but for those waiting on the other side, there will be a massive celebration beyond anything we can imagine.”

Donny Osmond also paid tribute on Instagram: “I’m so grateful I had the opportunity to visit him in the hospital before he passed. I’m sure I speak on behalf of all of us siblings when I say how lucky we were to have Wayne as our brother.”

Wayne and his siblings rose to fame in the 1970s with their band The Osmonds. Their hit song “One Bad Apple” spent five weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Though he had been in the spotlight since childhood, Wayne remained humble and often reflected on his true passions. “I’d still be happy flying airplanes — that’s what I love to do most,” he once said.

Wayne’s passing leaves a significant void in the hearts of fans and family, but his musical legacy and joyful spirit will forever be remembered.
