Long before the bright lights of Nashville, the awards, and the worldwide fame, there was simply a barefoot little girl in the Smoky Mountains.
Standing on a porch in Tennessee, she would pretend she was performing on the Grand Ole Opry—singing to an audience only she could see, dreaming of a life that seemed impossibly far away. ❤️
Years later, that little girl’s dream had become a remarkable reality.
In February 2019, some of the biggest names in music gathered to honor Dolly Parton as the MusiCares Person of the Year. As she stood before the crowd, Dolly reflected on a lifetime devoted to music, offering words that perfectly captured her journey:
“I have been in music for a long time, but it has been in me a lot longer.” 🎤✨
And then came a beautiful surprise.
Her longtime Trio collaborators, Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt, appeared to help present the honor. Seeing the three legendary voices together again made the evening even more unforgettable. 💕🎶
